Valve Adjust now idle is low?

I just cranked the car up for the first time after adjusting the valves and it sounds great. I had a couple loose valves for sure.

Anyway, I notice that my idle is now around 600 instead of 900. Should I turn it up a bit or will it find its way back to 900 after running for awhile?

Tom - I recently adjusted mine after waiting way too long to do it....All valves were too tight. When set correctly, my idle went from 900 to 1,600....My theory is that while the valves were too tight, I was losing compression and in danger of burning valves....

Sounds like your situation is the opposite....Yours were loose and you tightened them up......I would respectfully you maybe double-check your work before you just turn up the idle speed.

If you're new at adjusting valves, it's possible they are a little to tight? Just a guess.........G'luck

Shall I tell you something 'weird' ??

When a 911 engine gets warmer the plat between valve stem and rocker will rise....

khamul02: check several hoses....

Good luck,

thanks for the info. I know those things were loose becuase of all the noise. & now all of that ticking is gone. I used that new method to verify that all of the adjustments were correct.

Thanks again,
