Indicator light in dash btw Tach and Speedo
This barely qualifies as technical I know. I don't have an owners manual and am finishing up replacing the wiring harness...I can't find the circuit ID for this lamp...what is this? Has a red and a yellow/red wire behind.

John,
It would be helpful to know what car (and model year) we are talking about. Having said that, I am not aware of any indicator light between those two gauges on the dash of a 911. There are sometimes switches between some of the gauges but no lights. So, this may be something a previous owner has added, in which case a picture might help. When does the light come on? Where do the two wires appear to go? Have you followed them? JR |
Hi JR,
This is an 82 911SC. That indicator light is clearly factory...its mounting hole includes a tube welded to the dash frame and the wiring was well-wrapped into the harness. I poured over the Bently diagrams, can't find that light. Maybe its for the flux capacitor? |
john,
post a pic..you'll have an answer in minutes.. ryan |
John,
The only thing I can think of as a possiblilty would be that it might be an oxygen sensor light. For some markets, there is a counter that measures the mileage traveled and turns on an indicator light at the appropriate mileage for the replacement of an O2 sensor. If so, the lens for the light will probably be labeled OXS. It should be a red lens, if I am not mistaken. JR |
Another search through the classifieds yielded this pic of someone's dash...theirs is labelled OXS. Mine isn't but I'm betting its the OXS/Dash warning light...http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1140427517.jpg
