O2 Sensor connector broke- 911SC

The engine compartment plastic connector for the oxygen sensor on my SC has crumbled, breaking the wire.

I'm thinking this is a common problem (the white plastic turns yellow, then brown & crumbly with age).

What type of connector are people using as a solution, and where is a good source? The factory one is not available, but it seems like an easy job to splice a contemporary plug connector in, even for an electrical imbecile like me. I know there are 2 wires, but think one is just a shield for the live wire?

Thanks. I have a smog test coming up at a Test Only center, so guess its in my best interest to fix this ;)
Otherwise I could probably flunk the test & get the CAP assistance to cover repairs, but there may be a downside to being on record as a GROSS POLLUTER.

Bump for any answers... I've got the same problem.

Just a newbie here but to offer an option, i've been looking at some of the connectors on my SC and decided that any needing replaced will be refitted with weatherpack connectors.
They come in several sizes for most wire ga. and are easily obtainable (ebay, pep boys, etc.).
Also easy to install and the obvious weather proofing is an added bonus !

Please don't flame me for deviating from the "pure" porsche originals, technology has provided us with countless opportunities to improve functionality, safety and asthetic quality.

Generic Bosch sensors come with posi-lock connectors that are weather tight.

Here are a few pics.
