contro pressure regulator (warm running compensator)

My engine runs fine when cold, but after a few minutes engine start to buck off, shut down and does not want to re-start. It will turn over a few times, but no go until engine cools. Any one know if I should be looking at the control pressure regulator as possibld problem? Engine is in 73 911 with K-Jetronic fuel injection.

Any help here will be greatly appreciated.

the warm up regulater (WUR) would be a good place to start. check cold and warm control pressures. make sure you have 12v on the connector to the WUR. you can check the resistance of the heating element, i think it is around 25-30 ohms, as long as it is not way off it is ok.

when you start having CIS problems it is also a good idea to eliminate any air leaks. with your car being that old, anything you do could be masking air leaks. replacing the injector O rings and sleeves, intake runner rubber boots, intake gaskets and vacuum hoses would be a good idea.

bucking? would that be too lean? surging is too rich. (just thinking out loud)
can you keep it running if you give it gas?

remove the air cleaner. as it warms, you can reach in on the left side and either pull down or push up on the sensor plate to try and keep it running. pushing up means it is too lean, pulling down means it is too rich. be gentle with it.

In addition to what Ty said above:

Always make sure all ignition components are operating correctly.

Do you have the throttle lever located between the seats, and are you using it correctly? If you don't have one, then your suggestion of the warm running compensator/control pressure regulator/WarmUpRegulator (all the same thing) sounds like a good place to start. You will need a fuel pressure gauge.
