I'm in the middle of modifying the rear bumper of my '87 and I was looking for a good solution to securing the ends of the rub strips in the absence of the bumper blocks.
Yes I am keeping the rub strips, for consistency with the front bumper, for the small amount of protection they may provide, and so I don't have to modify the bumper shock mounts. I'd really like to keep the rub strips readily removable, and removable without dropping the muffler, so threaded fasteners from the inside of the bumper and adhesives are probably out. I'd also like it if whatever fastening means used was reasonably "hidden" or at least looked "factory". I look forward to learning what others have done. Thanks. |

I used contact cement. They will come back off. I'll email you tomorrow. Good luck and post some pictures.

I removed and replaced both of the rubber strips on the bumper of my '87 without dropping the muffler. Lots of access to get at the nut in there.
