The 16s with the black centers look so amazing on the Carrera, I wouldn't go with anything else. Plus I can't image how tht must ride on the 18s.

Pimp my ride? Sorry but the fronts way too high. Whole car is to lifted. Was that the intent?

I think they look fine- it's your car- maybe drop it a little- roll the fender to avoid rubbing- seems you are into customizing it for you so I say go for it- I have a Carrera too and while I keep it basically stock ( I have my Fuchs but I do have some Turbo wheels too!) it's not a 73rs or anything- it's a great car, fun car, and not 100k or exceptionally rare- have fun with her your way- can't imagine too smooth of a ride at times- on bumpy city streets my 17's run a bit rough at times but they feel great on Pacific Coast Highway-

16s, 17s, but 18s? That seems a bit on the big side.

Sort of makes your car look like a matchbox car with disproportional body and wheels.

Like he said, maybe if you lower it, but right now it looks like a 4x4.

Red face

The ride height in this picture is to high because I put in a 680 oddesey gel cell using a Rennline bat. box . It has since been lowered with turbo tie rods, Rennline monoball and Rennline dual point strut bar. The stock Porsche battery when removed made the nose come up about 3/4" of a inch. I also plan on doing a Ruf yellow bird bumped and dropping some more pounds along with a new paint job. I liked Fuchs but the white gold Fuchs reminded me of Miami Vice, and everyone polishes Fuchs. It does look like a match box in my pic. I will submit another picture soon.

If memory serves me (and more often than not its a curve ball high and outside) Porsce does not recommend 18's due to strain on the smallish hubs of anything pre 964. That could also be a street rumor. From reading your post you certainly have the mechanical ability to carry this off. Post another pic. In the end its your car and those are damn good looking wheels.

I run 18's on my track car without a hitch with 245 front, 275 rear Hoosiers. It takes a bit of modification back by the oil line and some extra rolling of the front fender lips. Well worth the effort for the grip but definitely not for everyone. I would imagine that on the street it would be pretty harsh.

Say I not understanding why a larger diameter wheel would cause a rougher ride. I have a 73' and run 7x16 all the way around. I did roll the fender lip up for more clearance and it works fine. Now just by luck I bought (in our weekly news paper) a set of 11x18 rears with 285x30x18 perilli and 9x18 fronts with 225x40x18 perilli with about 75% thread depth. For the unbleavable price of $250.00 for the whole thing.Ok now I have already change to coil over shocks so changing ride hight is easy. And with longer lug studs and a 25 mm spqacer. Which gave me plenty of inboard clearence between the chassis and the oil cooler lines. Yes its is true that the tire hangs out the side about 1.5 inches like old hot rods yep I'm an old hot guy and I have yet to drive the car in this configuration because of snow on the roads. But it looks mean and fast just sitting in the garage. Porsche boy's will criticize me for running these huge wheels. Probably the car may not handle as well, but for just a road trip and looking that great while cruising. It will turn heads. Did I mention that I also have B & B headers. So they can hear me coming.

All righty, I have the ride height as low as I dare go at 26 3/4 and it so far hasn't rubbed. I still need a alighnment and the 26 3/4 " was with half a tank ( 11 gallons ). If it does rub the fronts I thinks I will have the front wheel spacers machined 3/16" ,or maybe less . My first test ride on my eyeballed alighment was sweet. No rub! No if I can figure out how to submit a a pic.

18" ssr wheel

ok I couldn't figure out how to put these pics in my old thread but here are the pics of the ride height 26 3/4 front . 1/2 tank of fuel and alot of work and money. Now for a yellow bird knock off bumper h4 and a paint job. Wish I could add in the 680 batery pic.

18"!

Im going to post on here in a few weeks with my new 3 pc techart wheels on this old 1977.... until then, enjoy the rear view of what is most commonly seen of this one... currently roloing on 18" twists with 285's in the rear, and 235's in the front, the grip is insane!

Cheers!
