Seat cushion repair - advice

The foam on the drivers seat cushion is getting soft and seems ti be tearing, but not crumbling. Upholstery shop says he can repair for less than cost of new cushion. New cushion about $250.
I am not sure that this is the best solution. Anybody done this, pros & cons.
thanks chris

Hard to tell what you are talking about:

The seats bottoms consist of a spring frame covered with foam padding, covered by a seat cover.

Are you talking about the seat cover tearing?

Is the underlying foam damaged?

Post a pic!

I have ripped seats and need cushions also I suspect.

I have searched a few times on this topic and found little on this normally very informative board.

This is what I have found so far.

I have seen cushions and covers at:

http://www.worlduph.com/porsche5.htm#SEAT

Last week I saw some very good reupholstered seats. They were done in leather by a guy 100kms north of sydney australia. the cost in aussie dollars was about $1300 each. I no expert but they looked good to me.

I would be interested if anyone has more experience. Particularly in Australia.

Its the foam between the leather and the spring that is deteriorating.

I bought just new seat covers and the shop repaired all the foam and installed the covers. Alot of the old seats have horsehair as part of padding. Replacing with foam made the seats more comfortable. The shops can also fix any bad springs. Good luck.
