running hot
I was driving home tonight on the freeway when I noticed the
oil temp needle was sitting a little bit past 210. She normally runs at about 190. I have a front oil cooler and the hottest I have ever seen the oil temp is at 210, and that is in stop and go traffic. I also noticed the oil pressure seemed low until I reved her to about 4K. The oil pressure would then hit about 100. The oil level was pefect, and the engine does not leak with a complete rebuild about 20K ago. What could cause this? Thanks for any input. ![]()

You could check your thermostats by making sure that your front cooler is hot when the car is hot. Check your timing.
210 is not that bad at all (coming from a Texan) but you are right to start looking if your temp runs different when the weather didn't change.

Bad Thermostat? You have two. One for the engine cooler and one for your front cooler.

Okay, drove the car this morning until she warmed up. The temp went to 210 during normal driving (normally around 180 to 190). I got her home and the found the two oil lines in the front fender were stone cold that runs to the front oil cooler. The pressure relief valve was buring hot. Problem seems like the hot oil is not being pumped into the front cooler?
Can anyone show me the fix? Thanks.

DEFINITELY sounds like your thermostat isn't opening up, as previously mentioned. I'd suggest replacing or rebuilding.
Do you have the factory oil lines? Doug

do a search on this bulletin board, there are countless threads about removing the thermostat. It is in the front of the right rear wheel. Four lines thread into and converge at the thermostat.
Probably want to soak the fittings with anti-corrosion spray for a few days before trying to disassemble. Doug
