A Plea from your cars next owner.
Ok you have your 911 and want to change from the stock exhaust, please use SS fasteners and some anti-seaze. I just spent 2 hours wrestling 4 friggin bolts of the muffler of my SC. $.02 worth of anti-seaze and it is a 10 minute job. Ranting over.

I recomend WD40 the night before, the morning of (get your coffe and doughnut while it's working). Then tackle it. But, it sounds like it's off. And your right. Curses to the P.O.

I recommend a torch to heat up the nut cherry red. Trust me on this: After many years of the muffler being hot and cold and being under the car, the anti-seize will be nothing but some ash residue. SS might help, but it corrodes and can be just as much of a b!tch as some old grade 5 steel. At least the old G5 steel will give up easily with the torch.
But, still, a darn good idea for your own convenience. Never know when you might want that exhaust off. The labor you save may be your own!! |

Crack and re-torque the nuts every so often to make sure they don't gall. Do the same for your tranny plugs, ball joint nuts, and rear lower shock mounting bolts.

I like my 911's PO.
By him not changing 30-year old fuel lines, I was able to buy the car cheap at an auction after the engine fire, and drop in a 3.2. |
