Fuel pressure test kits..poor mans version?
Hi.
I'm in the process of working out why my car starts like a pig. (see my previous posts if you want the details) Now I've got to the point where I need to perform some tests on the fuel system. (I'm reluctant to give the car to a local garage simply because I'd prefer to learn about these things myself, that coupled with the fact that I don't want some monkey near my engine!) Anyway...I've got a fuel gauge that will do the measuring. What I don't have are the test connectors and lines and valve I'll need to work out 'system' pressure and 'control' pressure. Anyone know a good place to get these bits from? Cheers everyone Mark PS Somewhere in England would be a good start! |

here is a site that describes building such a gauge
http://www.geocities.com/jonnyguru/vw/fpressure.html and also a good trouble shooting guide http://members.rennlist.com/jimwms/CIS/CIShome.html I considered building one myself, but instead have just ordered the $99 CIS pressure tester from our host. (I do however have the fittings to make one if you want them) Steve

Thank you very much. If I can make this little puppy for less than £120 then it's cheaper than sending it to the garage! I love this site!!!

Mark,
Why try to make one when you can but one for half the price, as Steve suggested? Pelican sells one, P/N TOL_TA33865. Go here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/TOOL/POR_TOOL_CAT447_pg21.htm You can even order it with a nice selection of fuel pump check valves if you wish, and save on shipping. See my other post in your other thread. JR |
