She's coming home: The Fast Green Frog
Well, it's been just over a year since I "totalled" my 1980 SC and sold her off to Dave at TRE. As it turned out, the damage sustained was 'not that bad' and the SC would eventually be re-born. Early on, Dave discussed back-dating her into a long-hood, along with light-weight components. The result is a major transformation into a 1973 RS Lightweight in Viper Green, code name "La grenouille de vitesse" or French for The Fast Green Frog. And fast she will be. Weighing in at a tad over 2200lbs, she sould really scream, and that is before any induction or motor changes, which will eventually come. I am still not decided, but it will not be EFI and ITB's as I had originally planned. The list of modifications is lenghty, from fiberglass hood, fenders and bumpers, a custom fiberglass over steel ducktail, new suspension, to Boxster brakes all around, RSR-style oil cooler, RSR finished Fuchs, and finally, a new roof skin for a sunroof-delete modification. All work was performed by TRE and Kevin at Automotive Innovations and Restorations. Kevin did a fantastic job on the fiberglass work. As the pics show, the fitment and finish are first rate. He also did a fantastic job changing color from Black Metallic to Viper Green. And there is TRE. What more can I say. Dave and his team are second to none. Their workmanship and attention to detail are incredible. Dave has gone above and beyond to make sure the car is perfect and ensure I am satisfied. Thanks to both Dave, TRE, and Kevin!
I fly out to CA next Tuesday to pick her up and will drive her back to her new home in Colorado, where I hope to get a lot of club-related track time in, not to mention driving the twisties in the Rockies. So, without further adeaux, I present La grenouille de vitesse. Enjoy the pics. I have not even seen her in her finished state. Needless to say, I cannot wait and I like a kid before Christmas ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Man, that thing looks great. I remember reading the original thread but don't really remember what the car looked like. Can you show us some before and after pics?
Thanks |

Here is what she looked like before, not too shabby, but what she has become is the culmination of over 34 years of dreaming, when I first saw a "bright green 911"

Brad,
I was at TRE today (Thurs), and the car looked ok ...not bad for a hack job. ...hahaha!! Your car is absolutely stunning, man! I didn't know about all the FG work, nor did I know it was an SC. I didn't ask anyone about it except to ask Dave which car was yours. So there I am like a complete ignoramous simply admiring an "ordinarily stunning" RS ...little did I know yours has gone through the ringer and come out looking amazing!!! Kudos! You'll like it, I'm certain! And while we're at it, my personal thanks to Dave, Jeremy, and of course Tyson for (again) doing great work (and for letting me bug them ![]() ![]() Oh, and thanks to you Brad for the rollbar. Now just gotta find time to get that installed... Happy drive home! ![]() Edward

Brad, she is looking fantastic. I was really hoping to catch a look before you took the frog home, but my schedule has kept in Santa Barbara. What route are you taking home?
I expect a full write up and some in car video of track time soon!!!

Nice Frog! I am always blown away with some of the transformations I have seen on this BBS. If you don't mind me asking, I have always been curious what a project like this cost?
