clutch replacement and flywheel

I am replacing the clutch disk and pressure plate on my 88 carrera at 96k because the pedal is really stiff and the clutch engages at the top of the pedal. this will be the 2nd clutch job on the car. I would like to turn the flywheel while it is out, but my records say the flywheel has been turned once at 48k. any issues by refinishing the flywheel a second time?

Has the G50 update been done to your car yet?

If your clutch pedal is really stiff, I have a feeling your car has not had the update done yet. Actually, the clutch is probably OK with only 50,000 miles on it (unless you drive like a crazy man).

My clutch was very hard to push in when I first got my '87, and the problem was indeed the worn cross shaft that the clutch release fork rides on. I got this kit from Pelican and it's been smooth ever since.

I don't think it's recommended to turn G50 flywheels, but I know some people have done it. I have a feeling if it's been turned once already, you may need to open the wallet a bit wider and get a new one.

Have you thought of replacing your clutch cable, pedal spring and helper spring? I did that last year, and my pedal is no longer stiff. There were 10K miles on mine, and I refused t believe the clutch was bad. Turns out, the only thing I needed was the clutch pedal spring (in the pedal cluster) and the helper spring at the trasnmission.

Adjusting your clutch will give a much better engage point as well.

It's a hydraulic clutch....no cables to adjust/replace.

The records that came with the car indicate the update was done at 48K in 1998 when the clutch was replaced. the flywheel was turned at that time. Thats why I concluded worn disk is the issue now. I am located in toronto, canada.
