buying boge front shocks - need help
hey everyone...I'm trying to buy the sport bilstein shocks from my front Boge Struts on the 85 carrera. However, if you notice pelican parts has two different shocks for an 85...
Front Sport Bilstein Shock for 911, each, 911 Turbo, (1974-3/85) (For cars with Boge strut only) $143.00 P36-0113-M12 Front Sport Bilstein Shock for 911, each, 911 Turbo, (4/1985-89) (For cars with Boge strut only) $143.00 P36-0115-M12 My problem is I don't know what month the car was built! The title has an 'LU' under month and my CarFax report subscription already expired. Can anyone give me any hints on how to find out what month the car was built???EB0918FS161303 Thanks! David |

I can't help you with the build date on your car but I believe the later version shocks are designed for our Carrera 3.2's. These have the "ear" tag on the shock body for the brake sensor cable.
The version of the shocks for the SC and older cars don't have this small feature. You will need to double check this. Simon

Actually David, the difference is in the threading of the strut housing. The difference being that some struts have the threads on the inside while the others are threaded on the outside.
You can check this visually on your car. let me see what I can dig up and I'll post again if someone else doesn't settle this for you..... -Chris

If you look on the driver's side lockpost (open door) look under lock strike, you will see a "sticker" that has the vin and the build date.
My '85 was built in 12/85 and uses the older style nut on the strut. The struts were internally threaded.
