1999 966 - Info Needed

I am test driving a 1999 996 w/ 55k miles tomorrow. I was wondering what the common problems are with this car. Being the first year of 996's I'm a little nervous. I did a quick search but couldn't find many specific problems.

Also if you know of a good mechanic in the Roanoke, VA area I'm looking to get someone to take a look at the car.

Thanks

I'd look into the possibility of an oil leak from the rear main seal.

Unfortunately there is not a lot of experience with 996's on this board. While you can post in our 964/993/996 forum, I think you'd get a better population of users over on the Rennlist 996 forum.

I too recall that the RMS leak is an issue, and there seem to be improvements in newer cars. 99 is the first year for the model.

Good Luck,

Don
