Some info on your car would be helpful. Is it a 911 or a 914? What year is it? Do you have Boges, Bilsteins, or Konis?
Try searching for strut inserts. I just did mine and they were very easy, being Boges.

They are very easy to change out then.
Locate the top of the schock in the front trunk. Bend the locating tab down. It's just a cheap washer.
Remove the top nut on shock in the front truck. Use an impact if possible. If the nut turns without comingoff, then use a pipe wrench or slip pliers to hold the big a$$ washer. It should come right off then.
Push the rod down throught the hole in the fender. Tilt the whole strut housing outwards to remove the dust cover. Be careful not to damage the paint on the fender. Now, push the housing back in and put the rod back up into the hole in the fender. You now need to remover the nut on the housing. I used a pipe wrench, others have used pliers. Whatever works for you. Once you get the freakin' nut off you can push the rod back down and tilt the assembly out again. YOU MUST REMOVE THE O-RING THAT SEALS THE INSERT IN THE HOUSING. Use a dentist ppick or a small screwdriver to pry it out. It's useless so don't save it. The insert will then simply pull right out. Use a pump or something to suck the rest of the shock oil out of the housing. Get as much as possible out. The new insert simply slides in the housing. Push the rod up into the fender hole and install the insert nut. Tighten as much as possible. Push the rod back down and install the dust cover. Push the rod back up and install the nut/washer combination, bend a tab up onthe cheap washer and torque the nut down. Have a beer or other suitable beverage of your choice. Now do the other side!!
Yeah, ok maybe just posting a link would have been faster.
