PPI for 1984-1986 cars?

Hello.

What are some things I should look out for if I'm looking to buy a 1984-1986 (motronic, 915) kind of car? I have a 1972 T with a CIS transplant and I've learned what to look for (often after the fact); and I've read lots of the guidelines, things to look for, etc. about our cars in general.

But, 1984-86 guys, what should I look out for specifically in these cars (besides all the usual P-car things, like broken head studs, rust, rust and rusty things.) I've done a few searches, but nothing definitive really came up for me.

Oh, and PS thanks in advance to everyone who will say "save your pennies and buy a g50 car." I know.

Thanks a bunch

Agree with SoCal. Pretty much the belief is that if valve guide wear isn't evident in a 60-80k mile car then you're likely going to be OK.
I'd suggest going to a tech that works exclusively on Porsche and get an objective opinion on the mechanical and body/structural state of the car. Also, rust should be a relatively minor issue as the body has been galvanized. That said check under the seal around the windshield frame as water collects around the corners.

Thank you.
There's a few cars of this ilk in my area for sale. Some cheap, some not.

Do most "top end" rebulds include valve quides? Or just regrinding of seats, etc? I'm not smart in that area.

A proper top-end rebuild should include the valve guides.

Check for RUST!

I had an 84 Targa that was always in Southern California, and had some rust problems in the door jams.
