Decoded my options
Keyed in the Vehicle ID info on my new '89 3.2 and hey presto came out with this lot....
Porsche Option Decoder The following matches were found in the database. Note that you may see duplicates depending on your car's type and year. If you notice any errors please report them! Reset and enter more codes Code Option Description 058 Bumpers with impact absorbers 197 Higher amperage battery 243 Shorter gear shift lever 473 With spoilers 473 Power Left Seat 559 Air conditioner (with front & rear condenser) 567 Windshield green graduated tint 650 Sunroof c15 UK package with rhd steering wheel and headlights Paint Code L 693 Stone Grey Interior LT (Its Black Leather) |
Nice. I have a lot of that - the short gear lever is particularly good. not a short shift kit, but I've always felt that the standard shift lever looks like a truck stick. Plus I have long arms so the short one works perfectly.
What site did you use? |
Did you enter the VIN or the options codes into the site decoder?
|
I too would be very interested in what website you used. It would be better than paying Porsche $100 to put it on a fancy certificate. I am REALLY interested in finding out what color my car is. The paint is original except for the hood which at somepoint was redone and the label under the trunk lid is missing. It is a factory paint job, but according to the dealer. it is not a standard color for 1983.

My guess is that this was used (or similar) with the option codes: http://www.kindel.com/Porsche/options.asp
Feel free to prove me wrong :) |
! tried putting the car's vin # in, but it didn't work.
Hatter, what site did you use? |
You have to enter the option code and it provides a description of the option as shown in the first post.
|
Yeah - this isn't a kardex - it's simply a translator for the option codes. Neat nonetheless, but definitely not a peek into Porsche's archives.

Rick M is spot on>>>
Rick M is correct:
http://www.kindel.com/Porsche/options.asp What you need to do is to get the options list off the VIN sticker in the owners handbook. When I bought the car last week I was fortunate enough to be given every single document pertaining to the history of the car off its original owner (since 1989) who had fastidiously kept even the road tax certificates, every invoice and even the tire bills. Below you will see where the numbers are listed The VIN will NOT give you the options. The options (out of focus) are in my instance r groupings each is 3 numbers under the Paint code LT 693 and interior LT http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1141358455.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1141358475.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1141358668.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1141358687.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1141358718.jpg Cheers Richard |

Wohlberg,
there is a metal tag under the carpet in the "trunk" It translate in English to mean "syntetic varnish". I discovered this after going to the dealer about getting the paint code/name. I too believe mine was paint to sample. These days Porsche charges something like $4,000 to do such. I wonder what it was back in '83. I'll have to go back to the dealer and have them look that number up. What color is your car? Mine is a dark red. In the garage it looks Maroon but when the sunlight hits it, it almost becomes Gaurds Red. It is not a metallic paint. |

Good luck on figuring it out. |
