915 trans axle

hey my buddy just bought a 1978 911 and the "trans axle" blew up where would i find another?

not sure if it has another name

Are there no forward gears and just reverse? What do you mean "blew up". Was he racing or just putzing along when it happened?

Suggest to him he check the shift rod coupler and associated bushings (under the plate on the floor between and behind the front seats). Do a search (use search button) here on "shift coupler".

no he was a putin along and then buezzzzzzzzzz..... nothing when he picked it up originally it would not go into first so he just dogged it around town thru second and about three days later buezzzzzz ill tell him to check the coupler and thanx for answering what i dont know
