What do you guys think about my plans?

I wanted to get some opinions on what I was going to do with my 87 porsche 911 n/a. First Im going to replace all the strut bars, put a front strut bar, put in PMO carbs complete kit, SSI heat exchangers with dual exhaust, 911chips.com mass flow air sensor replacement, and chip it. This is about all I can think of as far as performance parts go. Im hoping to net 300+ horsepower out of the car after these, the chip and mass flow replacement should net me 30-35 ponies and another 16 from the ssi heat exchangers. Im not exactly sure how much Im going to get from the carbs but any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

A chip and carbs?

I believe you will hit your 300 hp goal, or at least come within 120 hp of hitting it -- that is, if you can get the car to start.

1. You don't instal carburators on a car that you plan to keep the EFI system and put in a mass flow sensor.
It's one or the other, carburators or EFI. Carbs using air velocity to draw fuel into the stream of inake charge, or EFI (electronic fuel injection) which uses computer code to generate nessecary fuel delivery based on sensor input.
2. Power doesn't really add up quite as linearly as you think, ssi's with a good chip from say steve wong will net you probably 220-230ish to the rears.
3. I think you mean replace all the shocks, front's being struts and back being just plain shocks. I'd add to that some bushings and your car should be solid from a suspension standpoint.

Welcome to the board, I see your new to the Porsche world, you will discover many new things that are very different about Porsche's vs. any other marque besides it being a flat six. Do some more research and feel free to ask alot of questions, just keep in mind that many of these questions have already been asked a billion times before so the answers may just be waiting for you at the search button up top. Good luck

BTW - If you ever want to buy something that you know will work for sure on your car, just call the host during business hours and they will also direct you in the right path to acheive your goal.

i think with the carb/fuel injection setup you should turbo AND supercharge the thing! and since you have gone that far add some nitrous oxide! and then enter it in NHRA top fuelie class!

If the engine and tranny are strong and you really want 300 HP+, you're going to have do an engine transplant, or do what I did, go to the dark side (put on an aftermarket turbo). Then you'll have about 400 HP, more that you'll ever need....and you'll never look back. Don't waste your money on half measures, save what you'd put into the ssi's etc for the big gun. Just my .02.

PS welcome to the board.

If the PMO's have trouble keeping up with your fuel injection I'll buy them off you. Once the are used they are virtually worthless, but I'll look after you .

No matter what you do to your 3.2, without a turbo or supercharger, you will never see 300hp.
