Where can I buy a nice, discreet, dead-pedal like the one shown below?

MS Road & Race sells the factory steel dead pedals for around $75.

Do those "Dead" pedals require drilling to install them? Both from that link look like they just have a 90 degree bend. Nothing special unless I'm missing something?
Couldn't you just get a piece of diamond tread, cut it, bend it 90 degrees, drill the holes and install. 10-15 dollars maybe? Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems easy enough.

Check this thread for one that I made. Honestly, it was a cheap and easy upgrade.

donporfi's design mimics the original RSR's...nice. The RSR's were welded in however.
You need to bolt any others-in, unless you were refinishing or repainting your car. Hint.. I tried a few designs...if you're not careful, it'll end up too vertical. You want a small amount of slant. Make your own...play around with a cardboard template and go to town. Use Stainless hardware ...and don't use sheet metal screws like Rennline (and others). Use machine screws and nylock back up nuts...and don't forget small rubber washers or caulking for the holes. - Wil

rennline actually supplies machine screws with nylock nuts. For what that's worth. Actually it is worth about $1 in hardware. maybe less.
The quality is nice. I chose their wrinkle finish black, which blends in below the dash. Fabricating is great, but only when it saves me money. Sometimes, buying someone else's product is cheap and cheaper than if I spent a whole day building something. To each their own. Doug

Well said Doug, I'm all for fabricating my own things, but sometimes there's no need to recreate the wheel when something is already available at a reasonable price. Now if you enjoy the fabrication process enough, well that's another story...

I'd love to add one of these to my car, but there's no way I'm drilling holes in my wheel well to attach it. Anyone seen anything that doesn't require self-mutilation?

Please note that my dead pedal is a little bit too high, IMO it should be about 2 inches lower. You can see in the picture only half of the pedal is used.

I too, have the black rennline dead pedal. Bought it from cbeers on this board. Like it alot, though installing these things requires being a contortionist if you don't first remove the front seat. Ask me how I know

Beware MS Road Race-
I bought a DME relay from him, told him it was for a back up. I later looked in the box and saw it was used. You could see the screw head mark were it had been mounted. I called him & he said "so send it back". He knew it was used. Sold it as new, I think it was $44 (didn't know about Pelican at the time). Imagine sending someone off misrepresenting a back up to keep someone from being stranded. rust never sleeps

I bought the pelican parts black dead pedal. Nice part!
I have tried to install and had a hell of a time. I am sure I will get it eventually!

Ianc:
I wouldn't necessarily characterize drilling holes in the wheel-well for a dead pedal as "self-mutilation"....I'm taking this almost as an insult. Drill neatly....touch up the holes with an anti-corrosive. Use stainless machine screws and washers. Use black silicone based caulk and carefully wipe excess. Trim back excessive screw length to match the backing nut height ( less chance of tire interference). Looks neat and professional... Doing this *well* and *right* is not butchering up the car. As for the comment as to not re-inventing the wheel when something that is reasonably priced is available.....I guess this is a personal matter but I don't see $75 dead pedals coming close to the $3 intrinsic value of a piece of aluminum...so I'm bristling at the cost comment. BTW....I don't know when Rennline stopped supplying sheet metal screws...but I know what I'm talking about, and their earlier offerings *and* instructions both clearly indicate sheet metal screws were ( at one time) their normal offering. - Wil

Wil, I think the mutilation comment came from owning pre-galvanized cars and watching them disintegrate. I had a 71 E that I did extensive repairs in the well where this would bolt on, so it's almost engraved into my brain never to pierce the body if at all possible, especially in the wheel well area. I still have nightmares that my present car needs longitudinals :O
