ssi's vs stock

hello all, just relaying the latest for my 82sc. After much thought ,I decided to switch my ssi''s out and return to stock exchangers. Partly because of the CA. smog rules change and partly 'cause I wanted a change. The ssi's and sport muff was to loud at times especially when tuning in the garage. I've had the ssi's on for three years so i didn't remember how quiet my car was before. I like it. Power wise it feels stronger but I would have to dyno for sure. Anyway I now have a set up for both systems. One question , Is anyone familar with the sound of the one in two out muffler? I already have the openning on the right side.

Why not keep the SSI's and just use the stock early style muffler which is 2-in, 1-out? The basic "early style" exhaust was far superiour to the later "pollution style exhaust system, and no where near as loud as a "sport" muffler.

the system i use is a muffler from per. products that came with some kind of white paint that burned off. I then cut a hole on the right side , welded a tailpipe on to the muffler. which was supper loud so i added a little baffle plate which helped alot. But i still had that hollow can sound that i did'nt like. So where can I find that muffler you talking about?

My understanding is that a "sport" muffler generally refers to a muffler that is two-in/two-out with the two outlets relatively close to the center of the muffler. Did you have something different? This car has something very similar to a "sport" muffler.
