Need Some Pedal cluster Help
 

Someone please take a look at this. I just rebuilt the cluster and not sure if the clutch return spring is right. Tension is with the pedal up. Is it supposed to help return the pedal or help take the pressure off of it?

Yes, I think you have that spring (blue) connected correctly. The real problem is, it's nearly impossible (at least I found it so) to connect the clutch cable with that spring in place. I had to re-install the pedal assembly, re-connect the clutch cable then install that spring - which wasn't easy. It's difficult to get a good grip on the spring, you have to have the pedal in the down position (I had the cable disconnected at the clutch arm end), the spring is very stiff and there isn't much room down in the footwell (as I'm sure you've already discovered). I used a quality pair of "vise-grips" and it took 3 or 4 tries to get the spring back on (and I lost the skin off a couple knuckles).

only lost skin off a couple of knuckles... not bad at all.. I got three when I did mine. haha..

Why do you replace this spring? When you clutch pedal doesn't return up anymore right?
Is there a softer spring but will return fully out there?
Mine just doesn't return completely anymore, still do but not completely, but it still pretty hard to depress. I hope there is a spring that is softter as a japanese cars but will return fully.

The spring is usually just removed for bushing replacement/service.

Yes, you're looks right.

Emission has a turnbuckle on his...ours doesn't. What year is that on, Emission? Can you loosen the turnbuckle enough to take all the tension off and just thread it together to get the tension back on? That would help all out knuckles!

It's an '86 "US Model" 930 coupe.

I did my clutch and pedal cluster four years ago... and I am embarassed to admit I forgot how I pulled it off. I do remember it was a PITA! I sure wish I took "clean" pics of it when it was done!
