Thumbs up 930 Hunt - Looks like I've found a goodun!

Hi All,

I've been looking for a 930 for the last month or so and I think I've tracked down a good one!

It's a 1987, with 57K, gearbox rebuild (+ new clutch), totally original. Full Porsche sevice history from new.

The car's been in for a PPI (at a very reputable shop) and the compression leakdown figures are:

1 - 145 - 5%
2 - 145 - 5%
3 - 145 - 6%
4 - 145 - 4%
5 - 145 - 5%
6 - 145 - 4%

To me they seem like excellent results, and the guy who ran the tests couldn't believe the compression tests worked out identical for all cylinders!

The only problems found were the 2 footwell heater blowers were not working, the windscreen washer jets were blocked, weak bonnet stays and a broken fuel pump mounting! Not too bad at all.

All looks pretty good to me, I think I'll be chatting to the vendor tomorrow!

Cheers,

Tim.

Smile WOW!

That looks beuatiful! Sounds like a real winner- I've got a winner too in my G50 Coupe but aren't they all beautiful? I look at a nice 911, or a "sad" 911 even, and want to take them all in like orphans- I know, crazy- but who here doesn't feel that way- these Porsche cars are just special. Congrats and post lots of pic for us if you seal the deal!

Beautiful car - great PPI results too!

Footwell blowers and hood struts are such a common issue - but looks like you have uncommonly good leakdown results. Nice tradeoff.

Does the 87 930 have a G50 or the turbo 4 speed (I thought the G50 was 88?).

Can't wait to see more pictures.

Don

Very nice Tim.

Are you planning to use it on track days or have you got that out of your system?

G50 was only in 89 (only year before 965).

Wink

I think you may have gone over budget - by about £2,400
Great car though and one that I was tempted to travel up North to check out.

Hey Brian,

Nope, don't think this one will be used for trackdays, she looks too nice for that!

Yes I've gone a little over budget, just don't tell the missus OK

Cheers,

Tim.

Don't walk, run and get it. Car sounds really nice.

It may be over budget but you'll save in the long run. It just means you won't have to put nearly as much money into it.

Gorgeous color. I looked at a similar car stateside not too long ago and fell in love with that shade of silver on the widebody 930. Unfortunately the rest of the car wasn't quite up to snuff.

The numbers on my 1991 C2 Turbo 2 years ago done at a NC Porsche dealership showed 125 all across the board.I had to bring the car in to an another P-dealership for some other work and found out the plugs on my car were never changed, suppose to have been changed at the time of compression.
On further questioning the first dealership i found out they did over look my car and forgot to do the plug change and the compression/leak down test..The new numbers ranged from 127-130 psi with similarly variable leak down numbers..
The chances of all 6 cylinders to have the same exact numbers are like winning a lotto, even the fresh brand spankin new engine won't have the same exact numbers..
So yes i agree with Craig911 that your MM probably didn't even touched the car
