Favourable effects with lead additives ?
As I understand leaded gas has several favorable effects on some parts of the engine internals. Its avoided nowadays primarily for environmental causes.
My tank lid reads non leaded gas only. I presume thats partly to save the cat ? Mine is removed together with the 02 sensor. Would my engine gain any longevity by using lead additives in the gas ? Or is it just another snake oil presumption ? Thanks,

Only favourable effect TEB has is "greasing" of valve seats. Even that is totally obsolete as almost all cars made on this side of 70's have hardened valve seats and don't need TEB.
It was only old cars that had no valve seats to speak of (just holes in cast-iron heads) that needed TEB for "lubrication". There is no gain by adding TEB. It's prohibited by the law as well.

Tetra-ethyl lead was used as an octane enhancer. Once gotten rid of (my friends' dad ran their biggest plant and retired just in time...) it turned out that the lead compound had been really gumming up engines. W/o it, the engines ran much better and needed less maintenance...
