Ever struggle getting seats bolted in?

It's a job made for people with small, nimble fingers. This time, I went to the local tool store and found a little $8 wrench that saved me an hour or two and I even used very little foul language. On top of that, I'm not even bleeding! (I generally bloody my knuckles with even the simplest of automotive tasks).

It's a thin Husky Pro ratchet that accepts hex drive bits. My seats are held in with allen head bolts, so this little ratchet fits in with room to spare.

Husky? Try Home Depot. That's their house brand. Next time I'm there, I'll look for one.

I bought a similar tool once at a local hardware or parts store but it was an attachment for a socket wrench. Looks like a socket with an allen wrench sticking out. Very good for the job too.

Yeah, it was at Home Depot. Pretty well made and smaller than the picture looks. You can even spin the top of the ratchet with your fingers to get the bolt started.

Allen wrench

I just installed a new set of Recaro SRD's tonight. I used my factory sliders and could not get an allen wrench on the front bolts. After a few head scratches and a few Michelob Ultra's, I cut the end off my allen wrench and polished it with my Dremel tool. Worked great. Now I have a dedicated seat tool.

Yea, I had to cut off an alen wrench to put into a socket. It's still a VERY tight fit.

But, at least it wasn't what the PO had in it. It had 10mm hex heads. I couldn't get the socket over the top of the bolt AND inbetween the rails. I ended up grinding down a socket so the walls were thin enough to fit in between both sides of the rail. That's why I have cheap tools layin' around.
