915 trans into '71 mounting bar question
 

Hi all,

I've searched for hours on this and can't find anything

so i'm hoping you, the knowledgable Pelicanites can help me out here, i am about to start a swap of a early mag cased 915 transmission into my '71 car and the 915 came without the mounting bar. I have all the other associated parts for the swap, clutch cable, t/o bearing, pressure plate, shifter tower etc., i understand that some hammering may be required to get the 915 to fit, what i would like to know is will the 911 mounting bar/crossmember work with the 915? are the locations the same? or am i better off searching for a 915 mounting bar?

Use the 915 transmission mount. It fits the 915 and you can replace the flex mounts with OEM or aftermarket.

When you get the transmission mount, it should include an aluminum spacer between the mount and the transmission.

If your magnesium case 915 has any street use you should consider the Factory Tectyl coating. Even for a track-only 911, the magnesium case should have a light coat. I’m working to have Pelican provide this.

Thank you Grady for the swift response, this is just the answer I was looking for :) just need to find a mounting bar now. Actually I don't suppose you know if all 915's had the same bar 72-86 do you?

As or the Tectyl, quite agree, it's awesome stuff, I have a can in the garage, but it's running low, probably just enough for the lower half of the 915 so i shall keep an eye out on the site to see if you get some.
