What is best way to clean clad plated items?
 

I have tried some degraeser on some unseen clad plated parts and they seem to loose that plating, do I need to use some other form of cleaner or just dilute the degreaser some?

Yes you are right the inorganics and strong organics will take the coating off.
I have found that simple green slightly water diluted will work fine, but do not soak it in it.

Anything more than a mild cleanser will take the plating off. Many have removed quite a bit of the hardware when detailing the engine bay area and had the whole lot replated. Not too expensive and brightens the whole assembley up quite a bit.

Yeah, I've seen it. Looks real nice unfortunetly (or fortunetly)

I'm not doing any overhauls right now, it's just for those while I'm in there moments and I try to clean everything up when putting it back together.
