Frozen alternator nut

Alternater crapped out so I'm replacing it. Start by removing the alt. belt. Easy enough right? Wrong! I swear the nut is welded on. Soaked it with WD40, let it sit overnight and the nut ain't coming off.. My hands are sore and knuckles scrapped. Any suggestions?

Liquid wrench seems to work better for me.....after spraying...LIGHTLY tap with a mallet or hammer...(NOT ON THE THEADS)....keep repeating until it losens up....not sure i would want to apply flame near Magnesium fan....just my .02....

Everyone's going to respond and tell you to use either PB Blaster or Kroil. I have used PB and it is miraculous.

Wrap a LITTLE bit, almost a few threads of cotton towel around the nut/threads and soak it with PB, let it work overnight. Feel free to go back and add a little every few hours...it'll come off.

By the way, I haven't done this yet, but any chance they are reversed threads?

Normal threads, It is much better with two people. Put a piece of pipe over the pulley wrench to hold it steady and use a long cheater bar on the 22 or 24 mm alternator nut. MUSCLE!

This is one of the few applications on a 911 where an impact wrench works well ... when the transaxle is in 5th gear and emergency brake is tight, pinch the belt tight with Channelock pliers!

ps,

Six-point impact 22 mm or 24 mm socket is mandatory!!!
