Carfax & Texas Car Question
I am looking into purchasing a 94 C2 that is currently registered in Nevada. The current owner says he bought it back in 2003 from someone in Texas.
Carfax report shows the last three years of passing emission in Nevada, but does not show any previous history for the car. Just says this VIN was never reported as a major accident, etc. Does Texas not report to Carfax? Any other ideas on researching a history other than carfax? Thanks,

I ran Carfax on my car (bought in Houston) and there were numerous reports from Texas. That is odd that it's not showing anything prior to the last 3 years.

Use carfax as a guideline only. I have seen cars with a salvage title that had a clean carfax. Regarding your question.......It might be that the staff working at the DMV in texas didn't bother sending the info through the carfax channels, who knows. I have seen other cars on carfax with no history for the first 4-6 years... You might want to ask the seller the name of the guy he bought the car from and seek out that previous owner on google or the like.
I did this with a car I was considering. The previous owner was very upfront and willing to talk openly about the car in question.

Thanks for the replies.
I wonder if Texas DMV would give me info if I called them and gave them the VIN#? I wouldn't be asking them to disclose any info that isn't already disclosed in a Carfax.
