Steve (Weiner),
I did run a leakdown test and determined there was slight leakage which was audible at the oil tank. When the oil consumption did not improve, I decided to tear the engine down and take the cylinders to a local shop (Mike Callas) to be prepped. We also confirmed the rings had not seated. The first time around, I had scrubbed the cylinders with scotchbrite; Mike honed them a bit more aggressively. Since the rebuild last year, I don't have the smoking problem (other than an occasional puff). Don't you ever get tired of being right? ;) |
yes, sort of
you'll need a competent professional to perform it - esp. on a 911 motor must be several in a town the size of San Antone... |
