Noisy "ticking sound"

Ok....Well, I'll stop by the mechanic's next week and have him listen to it again.

I have another question: on this '77 911 I have a set of Yokohama's 205x60x15. What would be a good tire pressure in the fron and the rear? The previous owner had no idea and neither do I. Suggestions??

Roger

The tire pressure on the door sill is a great place to start. (I believe is is 29# front and 36# rear) After that you off in "personal preference land". If you want to adjust the way the car handles change the pressures on one end of the car and then go drive it HARD to be sure you haven't added any unsafe tendencies to the car.

For street driving higher pressures will improve your mileage and make the ride rougher while increasing tire wear in the center of the tread. On most new (full tread) street tires increasing the pressure will increase grip too.

Go and play with it. It is a wonderful toy!

My SC was making a really sharp clicking sound and one of the spark leads was shorting/arcing to the next. I just moved it over a bit and it stopped.

Wayne...Help with tire pressure.

Ok...my tires are 205x60x15 all around. Do you think 29/34 is a good combo for these? Right now they all are showing a pressure of 26 lbs. The car seems to handle well but we're going a long Father's Day cruise tomorrow and I want to feel safe.
What do you think?

29F 34-36R cold.

Ticking is often from an exhaust leak, which could be in the exhaust (relatively cheap) or a pulled head stud ($$$)

+1 on exhaust leak, which could also be something as inexpensive as a gasket.

Thats what happened to me once.
