Targa bar question-how to remove

I searched but no luck. Does the targa bar come apart as in a heavy steel bar under and a stamped skin over that? In other words, is it 2 pieces? If I wanted to take my bar off for painting, how would I do it? I anyone can reply or point me in the right direction for articles, thanks.

From what I remember you will need to take the weather stripping off. There are around 9 philips screws under the stripping. There are also 4 wingnuts - 2 on each side under the rear fenders that you will need to remove. Have I forgotten anyting?

You got it right, all but the gallon of PB Blaster you should spray on the wing nuts in the fender well. They are tough to take off and if you aren't careful they break.

As long as we are at the bar...How is the inside pading attached. I have a section on the back of the pad to the left of the center light that seems to have come loose. Rumor has it there are some clips that hold the pad in place, can anyone verify this?Pictures?
