Preparing a chassis for media blasting?

Hi there,

I've got my 69 project ready to go to the blaster. It's not a total bare chassis rebuild...I'm not going to be doing the interior or removing the windows. How should I prepare the windows and wiring to prevent any damage?

Thanks.

wrap wiring with Al foil and heavy tape. Make sure to get ALL of it. I would suggest removing glass and trim. you are going to bare metal so why not? It only takes a moment to remove them. The media will marr the brightwork and can strip chrome. Make sure to cover it all. Just a layer of tape may not hold up.

I haven't pulled windows before...hopefully not that big of a deal. Good advice though, thanks.

I'd still like to figure out how to tape up the window holes so the interior doesn't get filled with sand.

Take off everything you can. This is a lesson I learned the expensive way. With digital camera and plastic bags in hand, why wouldn't you? Also gives you a chance to clean those parts up real nice while the tub is at the blasters.

Still looking for an answer to covering up the window holes....I've already got my interior installed.
