Looking for specs and pictures of (early) 911 luggage belts

Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is the proper forum for this question, but I'm looking for pictures and/or specifications (color, length, width, material, ...) of the luggage belts that can be used to fasten luggage that is stored on top of the back seats when they're down. I'm planning on having some made for my early 911, because I'll be using that luggage space for an upcoming trip and I plan to travel in style

Hallo Ed,
Groeten uit Amerika. Ik zag dat voor het eerst in een '67s 911s uit Engeland. Ik had dat nooit eerder gezien. Ik zal uitkijken voor je en fotos maken als ik zo iets weer tegenkom.

Ed,
Not sure if this helps but here's a picture of the straps in use. You might be able to guess-timate the width from the picture.

Regards,
Rick

This sure helps! It's a lot easier to explain what I want to have made when I've got a picture with an example.

Do you know if they supply the original parts or remakes? If it are the original parts, then I'm sure I can order them just as well in Europe. If not, then I might order them from CSP (with the current Euro-Dollar exchange rate 80 bucks seems reasonable to me).

Ed, I have them on the Chocolate Kiss. I got them at the factory when we picked up the car, and they are aithentic original.

If you wish, I could measure the width tonight when I get home.

BTW, they are very useful. We use them all the time to hold things down such as cases of wine, etc. that should travel in the cooler comfort of the interior rather than the "truck" up front.

That would be great. The length and placement of the buckles (correct word?) would be good to know as well. Of course a picture of them laid out on a floor would be best

Thanks for all the help so far.

I would be interested in a set of remakes for my 67 911s. Any leads appreciated.

Hi guys,

Just revisited the Board this morning, and hence too late to get pics and/or dimensions of buckles, etc. for you until tonight.

But I'll copy out this thread, and take it home to remind me. I'll measure the length of the two pieces, the width of the strap, and let you know where they "hook" in on the back parcel shelf.

I don't have a digital, but I'll try to borrow one.

Thanks in advance for going through the trouble.

About the back parcel shelf, the picture that was posted earlier shows the exact hooks that I got in my car. Have they been changed in later 911's?

Before I forget, I'll be leaving for the Le Mans Classic tomorrow morning (Euro time), and I'll be driving through Europe the 2 weeks after that, so I might not respond for a while. It all depends on finding public internet access somewhere.

Hi Ed,

Yes, those are the exact "hooks" that are in my 1983 911 SC from the factory.

You do have the ones at the footwells also, no? You'll need those to attach the buckle strap. The tongue strap goes from the top parcel shelf.

Another "piece" that's hard to see in the picture above, is that there is a small piece of leather UNDER the buckle to protect your luggage. A nice touch by Porsche, no?

As always, Porsche design rules!

I've been searching for the correct sizes and style of buckles and trims for these straps as I want to make a set. Does anyone have any more information or pics of them. I may make a few if anyone's interested. From the few pictures I've found I can't see how they work exactly. Anything clearer would be a great help.

Thanks
Nick

Hi Nick,

Please e.mail me at anagy@astorino.com, and I can photo mine from inside the car and removed from the car. Now that we have a digital camera, it should be easier.

I can photo the straps, and e.mail the pics to you.

Cheers...........Andras

Ed,

PET lists a part number 901.801.953.00 for a "leather strap, 1 set." It's in the section for accessories. I don't know if that is what you are after, or if Porsche still has stock of the item, but it might be worth checking.

This is probably not going to help at all, but I positively know I saw a link for a comparable belt through a Volkswagen group forum/vintage parts catalog. If you think about it, the straps were probably cross-listed.

It wasn't Classic & Speed Parts. I looked through all my bookmarks, but can't find it. It's another long shot, but perhaps someone knows an old VW junkie.
