According to the Red Book that chassis is a 1965 model which was manufactured between 1/65 and 7/65. The engine serial number for that chassis should be between 900361 - 903550

That would be a very early car. There are a bunch of guys here with knowledge of these early cars that will probably chime in, but you may want to also post your inquiry over on the early S registry forum, those guys are really into the early cars.

There are some people over here who can give you lot's of info, John Cramer and others have done a lot of research. I'm sure they'll notice this thread soon enough. The other think I would recommend is ordering a Certificate of Authenticity from PCNA. Go the the PCA website to download the form. It's not cheap at a little over $100, but it will tell you when the car was built, and any options it was originally equipped with, as well as the original engine serial number and gearbox serial number. It sounds like a nice find, post some pics when you have a chance!

also contact bob fleming an early 901-11 history buff who has made a pastime of collecting the wheres-abouts and nuances of the first year cars. yours would be #688, surprise, and by that time most, if not all of the weird short term parts were off and standard production commenced, you say drives nice, still have a mechanical fuel pump and solex's for induction? and forget the rs panels, your car would, imho, be better stock. Or not, your car :>)ask questions now!
