Need a PPI done in Miford, MI - Know Anyone?

I need a Pre Purchase Inspection done on a 911 in Milford, MI - private party car.

Thanks!

Look at this thread. I haven't used any of them but you can see what other people have said about some places....

MILFORD, MI PPI

I really do not know what is close to MILFORD, MI, so I am not certain where to go here. I am local to Florida.

This car isn;t being offered by a builder named Michael Anderson, is it? Sorry, no help on the PPI. As far as what is local to Milford; me, Pontiac isn't too far, GM proving grounds, thats about it...

Call Jeff @ Automotive Techniques in Farmington Hills.

Munks Motors has\had a winter deal with a towing company to flatbed a car to and from their shop for $50 and they should be able to do the PPI. I've met Chris from Munks several times at local PCA events. He's a nice guy and very knowledgable. He drives a late 80's 911 coupe that was his dads.

I agree with both of the last 2 posts. They have been established for awhile and can probably find a way to help you. Munks motors, 1-248-681-8081.....Automotive Techniques, 1-248-615-8964 www.automotivetechniques.net

My car is at Munk's right now. I'll be sure to update this thread with the results (good or bad)...

boxster03 07-11-2006 07:36 PM

You have foreign stuff there?

azasadny 07-12-2006 03:38 AM

My '74 is in the shop to get to the bottom of the "persistent" cold start problem that has been driving me nuts. I sure hope they do a good job, I'm a little scared after reading some of these posts.

azasadny 07-17-2006 01:33 PM

Chris Munk just called me to tell me that he's the one who is working on my car as his other guys aren't qualified to work on "older" cars. He sounded confident that he could get the problem resolved and remembered talking to me several years ago about the intermittent cold start problem that has turned into a consistent cold start problem. I hope he gets to the bottom if it before my checkbook balance bottoms out...

jdowty3 07-18-2006 05:37 PM

Chris is a stand-up guy with a lot of knowledge about older 911's. But the hourly rate at Munks is pretty steep so I hope he finds the problem quickly or gives you a break. I think Chris belongs to both the SEM and the RSR PCA regions.

Jim,
Yeah, $110.00 an hour is no bargain, but I hope he's worth the $!

Dependent on where the seller is in Milford, the Farmington Hills shop is a 15 minute drive on the highway from Milford to Farmington Hills.

My car has been in the shop (Munk's Motors) since 7/10 (11 days) and they haven't gotten to it yet. I stopped by the shop yesterday and met Chris and George and several others and they seem nice and knowledgeable, but don't seem too enthusiastic about getting to my car. I don't know where else to take it. I called Nickolas Motorsports, which I saw on the way to Munks and they had several newer Porshes in front and they don't work on "old Porsches". Does anyone have any suggestions? If the car doesn't get looked at by next week, I may have to go and flatbed it to another shop and right now, I don't have another shop in mind... Thanks!

A common suggestion seems to be either Jeff in Farmington Hills or AutoEurope in Birmingham. Have had my BMW serviced at AutoEurope and have been pleased with their work.

mkimber 07-21-2006 09:15 PM

Like Sarc, I had my BMW serviced at AutoEurope. I also was pleased. For my '87 Carrera, I used MUNK's first, and then Kern at Fred Lavery's Porsche in Birmingham ever since. I've heard and read good things about Jeff Jones at Automotive Techniques in Farmington Hills (which is geographically closer to Milford), but I have had no personal experience with Jeff.
