H4's only work on low beam!!

Lights work on low beam, but nothing on high beam. Not sure what to check first. Relay? Light stalk on steering column? Any suggestions?SmileWavy

Were they working earlier or are you currently converting to H4's? If they worked earlier(prior to installing H4's), you probably have one of your wires crossed.

You can also check to see if the current is going through the fuseblock(use a light tester to test the high-beam wire for power).

Car was converted to H4's with one relay. The original plug on the back of the Dr. Side H4 got hot enuff (not sure what happened) to melt the plastic plug. This caused a short. SmileWavy

still no high beam!

Did you try to connect the high beams directly at the fuse box? How about trying the other high beam jumper(located next to each other). Check the fuse diagram sticker for the correct jumpers.

Check the contacts on the stalk you may need to replace the switch

You say, that the plastic plug of the dr. side melted. Probably you connected the ground to a live terminal which caused a short circuit. Most probably the wires melted somewhere or are shorting. Did you check for a blown fuse for the high beams?
Also you say you put a relay, did you check if the relay is working?

What I would do:
1.- Check that I get a signal from the high beam switch (stalk). How? Use a test light at the head light connector.
2.- If you have a signal, then your connection at the relay are wrong.
2a.- If you do noy have a signal, check the fuses and contacts at the stalk.

I stand corrected. I only have high beams. The fuses are fine, the wiring is fine. I don't see a relay. I am only trying to undo what someone else did. I remember having relays last time I wired in H4's. I'll check the high/low beam switch next!

Check what type of H4 bulbs you have. Probably PO changed for higher wattage bulbs and the wires have burned if he did not use a relay. Check close to the connector, if you see burn marks. With your lights switch on, try to twist the cable close to the connector and see if the low beams turn on. If they turn on you have burnt cables.
