89 911 prognosis please!!!

I need input from experienced Porsche people please.

Description of car
I have an 1987 911 with a 1989 motor 60K on it.
The car has not been driven for 7 years prior to storing and repainting the car it ran well though it seemed to lose power sporadically after 15-20 minutes then the power would return some times.

After picking up the car from the paint shop I would run the car for minutes or so every week(not drive just run it)

I have noticed that the engine would begin to sound a little different after 5-6 minutes.

Recently When I start the car I get agreat deal of white smoke from the exhaust , the car runs (sounds) good but it really blows out alot of smoke

After looking around the car(under it) I noticed someone had jacked up the car and flattened the oil cooler pipes, I have never jacked it up so I can only presume the body shop did.

What additional information should I add to assist in a prognosis and cause of action from you folks.

Thanks for your help

Chris.

Welcome aboard, Chris.
First, you should post pictures so we get an accurate portrayal of what we are working on.

Second, the white smoke should go away after a few minutes of running.

By sounding different, what do you mean? These engines make unique sounds but some are more serious.
Obviously, if you haven't driven the car in 8 years, you should plan on , at the very least, replacing the oil and brake fluid. Please check all of the suspension pieces BEFORE tearing off down the road. Sitting is one of the worst things for these type of cars.
EDIT: Forgot to mention to change the fuel filter too. This may have been your issue before storage.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

i did not know what effect the crimped oil pipes may have had on the engine.

I will follow your advise regarding the filters and fluids

The noise spoke of was like a low rattle, i was thinking alternator as I have had issues in the past with the battery charge and the ignition lights showing, though this has now gone away.

I have a good deal of work to do on this car, but do not mind getting dirty myself, i will post pictures next week

Thanks again

Chris

Are the oil lines competely crimped off? If not, they probably will be ok to at least get the car running right.
A rattle like a chain in a garbage can is how the tensioners sound when they are bad. That is not a good thing.
Maybe you could tell us what city you are in. I would be willing to bet there is a Pelican nearby who might be willing to listen to the car and lend a hand if needed. Some specialised tools are needed to work on these cars.

My oil lines were damaged by road debris/awkwardly leaving a parking lot... I don't know how there were damaged, but the oil does still flow through them, I get nice pressure and the engine does not run hot. There are one or two "crimps" that look bad, but don't seem to affect anything.

I have a crimp in one of mine as well. The oil still flows because you can hear it running throuogh the lines. Unless it is crimped completely, I don't think it's a big issue. Mine doesn't run hot, either.
