Are these the correct rear shocks?

Hi all, I have my engine out right now and thought I'd replace the rear shocks while there's plenty of room. They're red and say Koni on them, but are these the correct replacements? http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911M/POR_911M_susprf_pg2.htm#item I don't see a flange on mine (front or rears) like the new one in the picture. Are these the right ones to get? Thanks, Phil

(The picture you linked shows what I would think is a "generic" picture...neither of those dmapers would fit your, or my, car!) The dampers in your car are Koni "reds". They are Konis "standard" rate damper. The link you provided shows Koni "yellows" which is their "sport" version, with a much higher damping rate. In other words, its stiffer. Often guys put the sports in when they upgrade the torsion bars to a higher rate. Stiffer bars require more agresive damping rates. I would do some research and hit Konis web site to get a feel for the different options. And, of course you will get plenty of suggestions from my esteemed fellow Pelicanites, LOL Off the top of my head, without knowing what you have on the car for torsion bars and your intentions for the car, (track days?) I would think twice before going with the yellow sports, as the ride will be much stiffer. And...just to add to your confusion, Bilstein also makes dampers that are very popular among the Pcar guys.

Jake, Thanks for the thoughts. I don't have any track days planned since we don't have any paved tracks (other than drag strips) here in Alaska. I do have some Weltmister anti-sway bars on the car which I really like. Guess I'll have to do a little more research. Thanks, Phil

I'd go with Bilsteins - you can also get them custom valved. You'll need to tell Steve what type of driving you do - and if you use gravel roads a lot, or rallye on them, let him know that. http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/showthread.php?p=82592#post82592
