Kurt Williams saves the day

I had been plagued with an annoying break-up in the upper end of my rpm range; Kurt had seen a post regarding this and gave me a very helpful suggestion. This morning I decided to drop by his shop (Saturday's are not good for drop in's for most shops) and he quickly solved my problem. Thanks to this forum, I was able to meet Kurt and get my problem solved. I love this place.
Thanks Kurt!
Regards,
j.p.
Ps. If anyone is ever in Kurt's neighborhood, you should stop in and say hello, he's a great guy.

Rocket scientist that I am; I had gapped my plugs in the 0.9mm range thinking my paltry DME ignition would create a huge spark, you know bigger is better, well this gap was causing the problem.
Essentially the cylinder presure at the high rpm range in combination with the spark advance wasn't allowing the spark to jump the canyon I created. When I told Kurt I saw white grey smoke everytime I experienced break-up, he had a feeling it was spark blow out.
Gap is set @ 0.711mm (0.28") and the problem dissappered.

Kurt.
Yes that was a long time ago, the HE's have been on for 2000 odd miles after a ceramic coating treatment, they look a treat and they perform too..

Once again I appreciated you spening the time to send to Australia

cheers

Shane

Kurt,

Every time I see your signature I think to myself "Who the hell does this guy think he is, Seinfeld?" You must have a giant gargage and wonderful, accomodating wife.
