G-50 shifting noisey

I just tried a search and did not see what I was looking for.
My 89 911 with 125,000 miles on it has developed a notchy
noise when going between 2nd and 3rd and 3rd to 4th.
First is fine and is 5th. I checked the parts list here and
did not see a bushing or coupler that can de replaced.
If this was a 915 shifter... I'd be guessing it was that
little tab that is the reverse lockout making this noise.
The car goes into gear fine, just noisey. I also noticed
that the side to side play in the shifter seems excessive.
any suggestions or thoughts ???
thanks,
Chuck

There were some technical bulletins issued by Porsche that essentially used a bunch of rubber bands to "tighten" some rods and pieces against one another in the shift tunnel... a search here might find it, as I recall the topic coming up..

Man... I swear to God I did a search here and only found about
6 or 7 posts. I did another search after your post with different
pramerters.... I found EXACTLY what I was looking for !!!!
It refers to what you are talking about with the rubber bands,
and rubber tubing used to quiet down the shifter. It is an
article from Excellence back in April 2002 ! It even has
pictures !!! I like pictures !! thanks

I'm finding the search function to be unreliable and quirky too, lately.....
