Talking Aluminium Floorboard Project

Here are some pictures of my new aluminium floorboard. It replaces the wooden board on the passenger side. Instead of spending $100 for a Rennline alu board I decided to make it myself.

The old floorboard:

I used 3 mm aluminium and cut the new board about 1/2" taller than the wooden board for a better fit.

Holes are marked using a coin of the right size for a pattern.

Holes were cut with a hole saw and an electric hand drill. Weight is not much more than the wooden board. I used sand paper to get the right finish.

New board installed. I will use a washer and a nut at the bottom to secure it.

You are right, I´ve added some weight. 36 grams to be exact.
But I´m not too worried..

Besides it´s the best place to add weight to a 911

My method is even lighter ...I didn't put it back!

BTW, anyone know of a cheaper alternative to the Rennline for replacing the driver's side pedal board? Thanks!

Yes, make a template on 1/8" aluminum and cut'er out. I just did mine, the wood one was shot. 4x8 sheet of aluminum $48, my time on Saturday all day x $0= 0, plus you have 24 sf of aluminum for other projects

Here's mine....I ended up reinforcing the back with angle iron because it was too flimsy.
