Targa power window problem

My windows travel much higher then they should, so using 101 projects I tore the door apart and I have a mystery. There appears to be noting to stop my window from traveling to highest position allowed by the regulator.

I have the Targa adjustment manual that was posted prior and it seems that I am missing the entire piece or device that stops the upper window travel. I found a "tab" with a hole in the center about mid door, right towards the top. This tab would appear to mate to a tab on the regulator near the glass. In my case the "tab" was bent up and almost flush with the door.

Does anyone know what is supposed to be there to stop the height? And if so what's it called so I can order one.

Pics would be helpful. There are adjustments you can make with the regulator. I cannot seem to find my pics, otherwise I would post them. Sorry...

I'm going to try, this "bracket" is on the inside of the door skin however.

OK, I think it's #17, does #17 sit in a bracket attached to the inside door skin?

More pics:

Door looking at the top edge, the threaded hole looks right now on this bracket, should something be threaded here?

Area behind door where empty bracket exists:

Tough to tell from that pic. Do you have a Bently manual for the SC? That would be the ticket. I have one for Carreras 84-89 and it has a good pic of the adjustment places.
Any one else know?

you posted between my reply...

Look for areas with elongated holes (for adjusting). Look at the light blue areas circled. The two bolts on the left - can they be loostened and adjusted horizontally?

Is there a bolt in the area to the right?

Yes all of those circled in Blue can be adjusted, and that sets the overall position of the window in the frame, in fact I can get a perfect fit. The issue I have is there is nothing to stop the window at the top. It's traveling far enough that the glass touches the metal rail of the Targa roof.

On the rgulator arm there is a protruding metal tab that appears to hit this mystery bracket, thus causing the window to stop moving upward. My bracket is empty, and I think that #17 should be bolted through the bracket.

Well, I would think one of those would be the height adjustment. But if not, then try the #17 and see if it works. In the mean time, I hope someone else can shed some knowledge on the subject.... I wish I could be more help.

Window Stop

I tore into my doors about a month or so ago and found the same problem with one of my doors.

There is a small hard plastic stop that attaches to the tab you are talking about. The door that didn't have it still stopped in approximately the correct location with the metal to metal contact made between the regulator stop (metal tab) and the window frame stop (metal tab). From your description it sounds like your window frame stop tab is bent upward.

I searched for the plastic replacement part and coudn't figure it out. #17 from your diagram may be it. Recommend calling Pelican or wherever you can get it to confirm.

Best of luck,

Gordo

Gordo, and Greg thanks! My tab piece was bent almost flush with the interior door skin, gotta love PO's when they let stuff like this go. I'll call Pelican in the AM and try and sort this out. If not it looks like a bolt and a rubber block may cure this as well.
