Side quarter glass removal
I am painting and restoring my 1980 930. I have found tech articles about removing the front and rear glass but I can not find any instructions or advice on removing the side quarter (FIXED) windows.
There is a black aluminum trim that goes around the window. It appears to be held together in the corners by an "L" shaped clip. I haven't tried to pry on it yet to see if it pops off but if someone could give some advice before I do that would be great. Thanks Tom

You should be able to gently pry the whole trim out of the rubber in one piece. Thats how I did it.
Getting the glass and rubber out of the body channel is another story. I planed on replacing the rubber so I cut it out with a razor knife. The glass has sealent around it in the rubber channel, making it difficult to just pop the glass out.

Just know that cutting the rubber is going to cost you 99 bucks for the left side and 114 for the right. I can't tell you any otherway to get it out without cutting it.

Hold on a minute! If you remove the trim while it is still hooked in the rubber retaining groove, you will bend it as it is removed. It can be straightened back out, but it aint easy. If you crawl inside the backseat area, you can just push starting at the rear real hard with your foot on the glass and slowly push the glass and seal out as a complete unit. After the assy is out, then you can carefully remove the metal trim.
If you decide to remove the trim while leaving the rubber and glass in place, even if you straighten the trim back out, it will be impossible to re-install it without first removing the the glass and rubber. These glass/rubber/trim assemblies must be assembled out of the car, then the whole assembly gets "roped" back into the car as a complete unit. For the front and rear glass removal, you should cut the rubber to release the trim, then remove the glass/rubber together, but the rear sides will typically come out safely as a complete assembly.

Mine felt like the glass was going to break just pushing with my hand.
I did slice around the trim with a razor knife (forgot to mention) before taking out the trim. Just like the front and rear windows.
