When checking oil level...

I know that you have to let the car get to operating temp and then check with the car running. My question is will the car stall out while doing it? The level when I checked was just below the middle of the two marks which is fine.

The idle should drop, but not stall.

Oil Level

Your car should not stall, but it may run rough when you remove the oil cap since it is a break in vacuum (mine does, but I have an '86). Read your owners manual carefully and do what it says. In general, the engine must be up to a certain temp before you can accurately check the oil level. At 140 deg F, mine should be between min and max on the dip stick, at 194 deg F, it should show full on the dip stick.

Upon further investigation it appears that my return hose or breather hose, the top hose attached to oil filler, is pretty cracked. It looks like a PITA to change also. I am that explains sometimes why the car searches for a good solid idle.
