thread size for screw that holds headlight in

I'm installing H1's on my '69 911S, the drivers side had an improper screw holding the old light in, and a metric screw doesn't want to thread in nicely. I'd like to retap it, need to know the correct thread size and pitch. thanks -Lewis

thanks, it is probably not worth shipping from Hawaii....I've already ordered 2 new ones...just waiting for the parts....and was hoping to have a tap in hand before the screws arrived.

Standard M5 ... OEM is chrome-plated brass, which is why so many are stripped out! Stainless replacement would be a better choice ... and what they chose when updating to the outer trim ring that uses two screws, both of which are stainless.
