Rear Wheel Squeal While Backing
My '83 has been making an anoying squealing noise when I back up lately.
-I rebuilt the rear brakes approx. 2 yrs/7k miles ago, all new stuff. -If it's pads, could it be due to something sticking: brake or parking? -Possible wheel bearing? Thanks, Gordo |
Make sure the hand brake is not dragging first.

hey Gordo, I have the same thing. Only mine is really making a grinding noise, I took it to the Porsche dealer, they told me its the left rear wheel bearings. If you don't take care of it soon, it will make the same grinding noise and you might risk losing your wheel while driving! BTW, the labor was $600, the bearing parts for one wheel were something like $250, albeit for a 930.
Does anyone know if this is too much for the job? |
Thanks for the feedback; I will start with checking into the parking brake.
Mine really sounds like squealing brake pads vice grinding. Diabolo, you need to get into the DIY mode; money spent on shop performing relatively simpler jobs can equal upgrades:cool: It's habit forming. Gordo |
i hear ya, just waiting to get the body fixed up, then I'll dig into the bearing issue
