1987 Carerra with stock seats which are ready for recover from wear and sun. Looking for someone to make the sport seat conversion at the same time, preferably in the greater SF-Sacto area.

Thanks

I'm not sure, but a fellow friend had reg. seats from an 85' 928 made to sport seats with contrast piping by "Design Paul Champagne". Found out about him through the 928 group. Does really awesome work (seats came out near factory perfect with Wessaich style piping work, in contrast colours, really nice). I think he's located in Texas though. Checkout his website, neat stuff, if you don't mind out of state he's got a decent reputation. I haven't used his services (yet), thinking of some steering wheel work in future.

Paul posts on the 928 forum over at Rennlist, and I believe he is a sponsor there as well.

Nobody does better work. I have seen his work in person and it is outstanding. He is very well regarded in the 928 community.

The only guy I found to actually do a Sport Seat conversion is:

Heritage Upholstery & Trim
250 "H" Street, PMB 3000
Blaine, WA 98230

Their web address is Heritage Upholstery & Trim - Classic Car Interiors

They did my 82 911 SC and I am very happy with the results. They actually weld in the bolster and alter the frame.

It should not cost you more than about $150 to ship

seems like they do a great job, how much did it cost you?

I do not know exactly as I also bought an RSR carpet kit and door panels.

I believe the sport seat conversion, new foam and new OEM perforated leather was about $2,200 for both seats

I own an 87 Carrera. I put mid year manual sport seats in my car and could not be happier. The seat belt receiver needs to be relocated to the seat bracket with the Porsche RS America part. Otherwise, it is a straight forward fit. The seats are way, way lighter than the stock 87 units and the feel, fit, look, and support are amazing.

You should be able to pick up a pair for about the same price as reupholstering your original seats. I have an extra pair of manual Sport Seats I would sell that need to be recovered, but shipping would be a bummer to NorCal. I live in Los Angeles County.

I would snatch up a pair now, because I think they are gonna get real pricey as supply thins out. They are amazing seats.

Good luck.

Mike

Paul Champagne does incredible work. He did a sports seat conversion for me. He made a black on black pascha leather pattern. It is gorgeous. I can't say enough good things about Paul, his work and his wife Linda and her work.

+928 on Paul Champagne
