Painting crankcase ?

I noticed that a Netherlands Porsche specialist uses to paint the engine case he rebuild. What is the reason and the advantage of this choice ?

Pat-
Many cases are magnesium, which corrodes like crazy. Paint is one way of preventing corrosion. There are other products, like Tectyl, that are more like the factory method of preserving the castings.
