Engine Swap today?
Hey guys!
if everything finally goes to plan, today should be the beginning of a 3.6L swap in my 911 the story of the car up until now can be read here www.cardomain.com/id/nick_facey click on the pic of the black porsche, unless u wanna read about the bmw...lol... anyways....the nicely hoped up 3.6L should arraive at my mechanics at noon, and i'll be going to take my first look at it around 3:30!!!! i'll bring my camera! i imagine the car will be in his shop for a little under a month, as there is a bunch of other stuff getting done...alot of it i would normally do, expect i am extremely busy lately. included is the engine swap, new suspension (torison bars), tuning of both, new brake rotors with custom pads, betweent he 2 of us we have ordered 18 pairs, and they are the same compound used on 747's.....the intial bight is uspposed to be unreal. I am also having the rear door trim re-done, and the pedals adjusted, so that they are all flush with one another, and tight. the headlights will be set up, wheels aligned....should be good, might be getting my hood re-painted, as it has suffered during the dirty road months.... i'll keep ya'll updated cheers Nick

FOR THE THIRD TIME THE SHIPPING COMPNAY IS FULL OF *****!!! i'm really disappointed in my shippers on the canadian side of it, i don't think they could ahve messed up any mroe than the did. it took fedex 3 days from lousiana to the canadian border (regina), and 5+ weeks from regina to vancouver island. i was suposed to go to a in-bonds wharehouse in nanaimo b.c, yet somehow is ended up, in-bonds in regina...which is great, becuase now i need t pay a custom agent to handle the crossing, not just me filling the paper work out in person.... oh and it tok them over a week to figure out where it was... i was told repeadidly that it was in either vancouver or calagary.... finally it got cleared after weeks of bs, how much did u pay, when they have the bill atached with the shipping info.... i ended up calling the wharehouse and getting the exact number etc...... it has since been 2 weeks .... and hasn;t managed to make a 1 1/2 day drive.... and i've been told a ton of time tomorrow....which i than plan for....me and my mechanic, drop of the car with a buddy who'll pick me up....(2 hours away).... visit the grandparents for dinner....but no...this is the third time i'm reschdeluing..... and i also ended up paying more than quoted as, reloading it from in-bonds, and than, when he qupted me is classed it wrong....good bye another 210 dollars..... LIKE HOLY BAGS OF POOO!!!!! what is a guy supposed to do....i won an intense ebay auction, payed that....waited for seller to get it packed up.....than waited for freakinh shipping......and i just know now that it will take forever to tuen those webers.... wish me luck tomorrow...as "thats when it will be there"

the 3L it had it was already capable of that... i want stock tt's..... just need to lose another 100lbs with that bump in power and it shouldn't be a problem at all....
my car only weights 24xx so its not very heavy..... expecially when compared to the portly 996 series....

So everyone remember the wicked deal i found on that 3.6L+ engine!!
well after fighting with shipping companies and customs and shipping companies... its finally here!!! i've been trying to roughly figure out the displcament, as the seller is a bit of an idiot..... based on a 930 case, and assuming the stock crank, i believe that puts the stroke around 75mm, the bore i know is 100mm (mahle p&C's) pie x (10.0/2)^2 x(7.5) x 6 = 3.5L....which is wierd....however the seller believes it was stroked....how much .... like i said...idiot.... on a better not though...my mechanic has seen and heard of 100stroek x 81bore stroker engines.....which makes 3.8L..... i know we could open it up and take some measurements.....however this this is freshly assembled....and done very very well.... never seen gas or anything....the fan shrouding andcarbs scared me a little....until i looked inside (super amazingly clean), and the heads are absolutly spotless!!! theres a ton of pics to come just so u guys see what i am saying....it looks scaries and way better in person.... the engine came without any headers/exhaust..... however i tried to measure the exhaust flange outlet, and i believe it was 43mm or 1 11/16" , once again this looks fresh, very clean, is the a dimension that would make sense, i should also say there are 2 sizes, an fingernail width in, it gets a mm or so skinnier, hard change, i blieve this is for proper flange mounting/seal. think i'm going to go with B&B w/heater boxes, and their twin race outlets, which are kinda sorta legal in canada.... i'm also goign with a 5lb flywheel, and a 3L sc clutch a flywheel, which is alumin and way wya lighter than the carrera units.. my mechanic has his secret ways to make sure this is the best setup...and i trust him.... the oil cooler, which i needed, is going to be mounted up front, but not in the valance, its going to mount just behind it (protected), and will steal the nose of the trunk, and exit under/sides.... should be a really trick setup, just trying to decide if i want foglights, or additional airflow into the cooler.....but seeing as this is a road car i think i'm gonna go with fog lights....we'll see though..... got some new disk brakes, cross drilled and slotted zimmerman's, 11.2" , and my brake pads are once again one of my mechanics little secrets, alot of the stuff on my car is burrowed from his race car.... ohhh, as u can see in that last picture, the engine uses 6 , 2 pin coils, with a crank fire ignition system, controlling the 12 plugs!, i'm excited!! the engine is getting powdercoated/painted before being installed, gotta pretty it up a little....the paint scheme is secret....and i think it'll look good.... i'm undecided on what to do about carb covers, i already ahev K&N filters, however i think i would like to update/convert the rain guards into better looking ones....we'll see once painted.... one other really wierd thing, is that the case unde the fan, has been kinda painted black....my mechanic thinks it was just the idiot seller trying to pretty it up or somehting...not that u can see that part of the engine anyways.... well....between the engine swap, oil cooler, suspension change, pedal bushings, new pedals (havn;t seen these yet), rear-interior-redo, and about 20 other misc things,.... the car won't see the road again for a little over a month...however it will be done to make its first ever porsche club event, at te crown isle golf course in early may. i'm sure i fogot i lot, still really excited, lets hear some opinions and questions ![]() ![]()

No.... nor does it look like one, or anything they would offer..... its based on a 1999 jerry woods crate engine.... but has since had more work done....
IMO thats a ****ty comment....almost an insult.... if u looked at the pics u would see the nice and clean runners on both the intakes and the webers, which are 46mm weber IDA's....way outta the range of what mm has reputation for... what caused u to ask this?

Facey,
No need to be defensive, I'm sure Blanco wasn't trying to insult. Looks like a clean setup. What makes you think that is a 3.6? Is it a single plug setup, coil packs suggest single pluf? Valve / cam covers looks like a 3.0 or 3.2, as well. Doug

well... its dual plugged.... which is indictated by the 6 2 pin coil packs....and included in previous posts where the shot up the bottom (added) spark plug....
it has a bore of 100mm, the smallest it could be is 3.5L. the cam covers have been back dated to the magnesium ones, the case is an 86 turbo case ( verified), and the heads have custom porting etc..... just trying to figure out what headers will mount up to them.... the casting number is 84K1926R the port sizing is about 43mm, (1 and 11/16") ....hard to measure with heads on the engine... CAN anyone do anything with this? as far as let me know what flange header type will fit?
